RCHS artists are back in business, since 2019. Painting the Windows of HOPE at Annie Penn Hospital is one of our favorite out reach projects. Glad we could share our talents with the community and hopefully making others' Christmas a little brighter. Artists this season include: Cassie B., Kenleigh B., Sharlotte B., Olivia P., Katie R., Valeria V-O., Gracie I., & Kaley C.

Annual Classified Employee CHristmas project:
This is the ninetieth year of the the RCHS Art students creating handmade gifts for the classified staff members. The gifts this year were hand painted and sculpted ornaments out from a salt dough recipe. We, the Art Department, appreciate everything they do for us each day.

RCHS Christmas ornaments were submitted with pride to be hung on the annual Rockingham County Schools Student Tree. Senior artists Payten Bayne & Katy Fulcher. Our school's ornaments as well others from across the county will be on display at the central office's lobby throughout the Christmas Season. WINDOWS OF HOPE/ 2019 holiday Season
LOOK! We made the paper! It is our fourth year of painting painting Annie Penn Hospital Auxiliary Windows of Hope. It has become one of our most anticipated activities of the season. The Advanced & Proficient Art students have been chauffeured over to the hospital before the Thanksgiving break...with a BIG thank you to Shannon French! ALSO, a special shout out to Emily McColl being a part of the community outreach three of the four years.

RCHS Art Travels west for EXHIBIT in Cullowhee, NC
North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT) invited the student artists of Rockingham County High School to exhibit their art from mid May until the end of September at 276 NCCAT Drive in Cullowhee, right across from the Western Carolina Statue University campus. This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase their talent outside of Rockingham County, and out of the region. The showcase includes thirteen two-dimensional works from RCHS students -- seniors Taylor Key, Jacie Smith, Leah Smith, Renee Springs and Peyton Tucker; juniors Payton Bayne, Javon Dickerson, Katy Fulcher, Reina Garcia, and Star Januzys; and underclassmen Thaliana Casper, Kelly Carter, and Nicole Griffith. Congrats to the RCHS art students on being chosen for this honor!
RCHS ARTIST WINS SUPERINTENDENT CHOICE AWARD:
In May 2019 School Board Meeting, Junior, Ashland Pruitt was recognized as the high school recipient of the Superintendent's Art Award. This makes Rockingham County's 5th time for winning this prestigious award.

On Sunday, April 7th, 2019 Rafael Cruz, won Best Entry By 16-18 Year Old with his pin and ink drawing "Lucky Mistakes" CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Other students, alumni, were entered in The 75th Fine Arts Festival Exhibition including: his sister Raquel Cruz, Jacie Smith, Erica Locklear, Caleb "DOUG" Howerton, Julie Beasley, Samantha Swinson, Shelby Nelson, and Mrs Cross.

Fourth year for the Art Department working along side Annie Penn Hospital in painting Windows of Hope. Each year a group of advance artists join together to spread their talents with our community. This year was no exception. This years artists are juniors from the class of 2020 and seniors of 2019. THANKS for all your hard work and dedication of your time. The art will be on display in the main entrance of the hospital throughout the holidays.

Our school's mission statement: is teaching all students to become productive citizens and life long learners. Our advanced artists completed their annual painting of the hospital windows at Annie Penn this Monday 11/27. The students used their talent and expertise to brighten up others holidays.

Gifts for the Classified Staff @ Rockingham
This Christmas season the Advance & Proficient Visual Arts Classes made these cute Christmas ornimates for our secretaries, bus drivers, cafeteria staff, custodians, school nurses, Officer Bullins and of course Ms Hughes. We wanted to give them a small token of our apperciation for all they do to keep our school running day in and out.
